Anthony Nak jewelry will be the spotlighted designer for the Cardiac Arrhythmia Research Institute’s fall fund-raiser.

The luncheon will be at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 16. A party for patrons will be held at the home of Barbara and Roger Simons on Nov. 15.

The institute at the OU Health Sciences Center uses fashion as a focus for its fund-raisers. The Cardiac Arrhythmia Research Institute, known as CARI, is a nonprofit institute co-founded by Warren M. Jackman and Ralph Lazzara to bring together physicians, scientists, nurses and engineers to find new treatments and cures for irregular heartbeats.

CARI’S first event was a fur and jewel show with local merchants, Valerie Naifeh and Geno’s Furs, and community models in 2002. Scarves and ties from Hermes were featured at their next event.

Sales totaled more than $64,000 when Judith Leiber bags and the handbags carried by the first ladies to their husbands’ inaugural balls were spotlighted. Tiffany & Co. came to Oklahoma City last year with fabulous jewels and Keys for a Cause.

The caliber of this year’s event will be in the tradition of our previous ones, said Pam Ivester, executive director of CARI. We’re very excited about having Anthony Nak come to Oklahoma City to co- partner with us on our fall fund-raiser.

Anthony Nak jewelry has been worn on celebrities such as Laura Bush and her twin daughters, who wore Anthony Nak jewelry to the inaugural balls, Sarah Jessica Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sandra Bullock and Cameron Diaz.

Dennis Quaid had Anthony Nak design his fiancee’s engagement and his wedding ring.

Their creations are not jewelry – they’re works of art, said Quaid about Anthony Nak.

Anthony Nak was formed by two jewelry designers, Anthony Camargo and David Nakard Armstrong in 1998.

It’s not your mother’s jewelry, said Karen Swyden, special event coordinator for CARI.

Anthony Nak was awarded the Swavorski Perry Ellis Award for Accessory Design this year, received the Editors Choice Award in 2004 from Town and Country Magazine and The Fashion Group International Rising Star Award for 2003.

Tiffany & Co. has commissioned Nak to do an exclusive pearl.

Libby Blankenship is the honorary chair and Laurie Hyde and her daughter, Margot McCann Tebbe, are co-chairs. Jeaneen Naifeh is patron chair and Sue Timberlake will be chair of the patron party.

The cost of the luncheon is $75. More information is available by calling 271-1675.
