Louisiana State University issued the following tiffany news release:

The LSU A Cappella Choir will once again “sing in” the holiday season when it holds its 60th annual Christmas Candlelight Concert on Sunday, Dec. 6.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. and will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge.

Those in attendance will hear the choir, under the direction of world-renowned conductor Kenneth Fulton, perform traditional Christmas songs, and will also hear readings to highlight the greatest themes of the Christmas season.

This year marks Fulton’s 25th year to direct the internationally acclaimed choir silver bangles, which features 52 talented vocal performance students from the LSU School of Music & Dramatic Arts.

Narrating this year’s concert will be choir alumnus and WRKF radio personality Constance Navratil, whose “The LSU School of Music Presents…” program airs Sunday evenings from 8-9 p.m.

General admission tickets to this year’s event are $15 each. VIP tickets can also be purchased for $50 and include an invitation to a dessert reception in the church’s reception hall immediately following the concert.

All proceeds from the concert will help underwrite the cost for the choir to travel to and perform at the American Choral Directors Association’s Southern Division Convention in Memphis, Tenn. March 10-13, 2010. The choir has been invited to perform at the President’s Concert, where they will join other choirs from silver rings the region and the Memphis Symphony to perform famed composer Johannes Brahms’ “Ein Deutsches Requiem,” under the direction of Fulton.

Tickets for the Christmas Candlelight Concert may be purchased in advance through the LSU School of Dramatic Arts’ Web site at cmda.lsu.edu, or at the door the night of the concert beginning at 7:15 p.m.
